“I have never seen a boat so gracefully handle weather at speed.”
Hey Guys,
Just wanted to let you know I was able to connect with David and Laurie, [owners of a Targa 30]. Great couple, and even greater Boat 😊. I was beyond impressed. We had a really snotty afternoon, 7 foot seas, swells of easily 12-15 feet. Even going from the dock to the boat was a very wet experience.
I grew up on the Maine coast, and have been on Ranger, Nordic, Backcove, Hinckly, Sabre yachts, and a few others in between.
I have never seen a boat so gracefully handle weather at speed.
We were doing 32-34 knots [in their Targa 30] and never once did I feel uncomfortable. The windshield wipers were getting a work out … but effortlessly shed the water.
At any point, if I had to go outside the cabin I knew I wouldn’t be washed overboard! The feeling of safety, stability, etc. was unparalleled. I can’t imagine having to go outside the cabin of a Hinckly or Backcove in those conditions… I’d have been shark bait.
We also took several turns at full speed in those seas… I was a bit nervous but they urged me to just keep the throttle on and power through. ‘@$%^ impressive’ is the word!
The boat was quiet, dry, safe, fast. My wife was uber impressed and said “That’s it”.
